Location

Lot 15, Con.2 Chatham Gore
South of the east branch of the Sydenham river
Just past the eastern outskirts of Wallaceburg on Wallace street

Cemetery Opened:
Official records indicate the earliest burial was of Samuel Fry, age 4 days old, died April 15, 1885
Un-officially an old stone slab with “In memory of Charles Stewart, died Dec. 22 1878” exists at the cemetery but he may have been relocated here from the Old MacDougall Cemetery on Water St.
Originally divided into separate sections for Roman Catholic, Anglican (Church of England) and general public burials but no longer followed.
Mausoleum with space for 138 crypts, started in 1929 but not completed until 1943

Size and special features:
Aprox. 170 Meters wide X 590 Meters long
Aprox. 25 acres
Laid out to accommodate approximately 21500 standard graves
Two special sections for Veterans consisting of 84 spaces
Special section for babies and infants with 328 spaces and future 328 additional spaces
Special section for cremation urns with 246 spaces and future 492 additional spaces
